Heuristic analysis

Heuristic evaluation enables to discover the usability problems that appear in tested product. The method bases on the expert analysis. The experts assess the conformity of tested interface with set usability rules (heuristis).

A single researcher will never be able to discover all the problems. That is why heuristic analysis is carried out by minimum two persons. Next the results of evaluation are integrated into a coherent form.

We use a set of usability heuristics enriching it of our own experience from realized projects.

Usability heuristics developed by Nielsen and Molich

  1. Visibility of system status
  2. Match between system and the real world
  3. User control and freedom
  4. Consistency and standards
  5. Error prevention
  6. Recognition rather than recall
  7. Flexibility and efficiency of use
  8. Aesthetic and minimalist design
  9. Help users recognize, diagnose, and recover from errors
  10. Help and documentation

We also use the recommendations published in Research-Based Web Design & Usability Guidelines. Below we show the areas of recommendation:

  1. Page Layout
  2. Usability Tips – the results of scientific research
  3. Navigation
  4. Scrolling and Paging
